Schuss/ Gegenschuss

This outdoor piece was realised for the group show “hell-gruen” in Düsseldorf/Germany. The work refers to the concept of paths and vistas in English landscape gardens, like the Hofgarten Düsseldorf. A walk through the park is staged like a film sequence: dark forest CUT clearing WIDEN ZOOM meadow NARROW ZOOM flowers in blossom etc. But unlike the cinema-goer, the flaneur in the park is part of the plot: it was and still is a place of seeing and being seen. The extra path offers the visitor an escape from this regime of perspectives and the opportunity to hide behind hedges. The piece re-enacts the flaneur as “the eye” that sees without being seen.
