Adaptation Laboratory

The inflatable greenhouse connects to outlets of waste air and uses infrastructure from the host institutions. The plant inside is a so called Ghetto Palm (Tree of Heaven, lat. Ailanthus altissima) I brought back from my trip to Detroit. There, like everywhere else, the tree indicates abandoned areas. The plant is considered as dangerous in the US and in many European countries because of its aggressive reproduction ability.

This prototype has been installed in several exhibition venues in Germany and Austria.

Greenhouse operated on exhaust air built around an Ailanthus seedling imported from Detroit.
Size variable, greenhouse D 120 cm × L 145 cm
