Family Constellation

Family Constellation refers to the dubious but effective therapeutic method, except that instead of people in rooms, sculptures are placed in public spaces. These artworks are modernist classics and can be considered the ancestors of public art: Endless Column by Constantin Brancusi (1938), Recumbent Figure by Henry Moore (1938) and Broken Obelisk by Barnett Newman (1966). Ingo Vetter recreated them as inflatable nylon objects and uses them as a toolbox to question public spaces. The promises of modernism were internationality, universal values, accessibility and participation. What is the current status of these places and the associated values? After installations in Hanoi in 2017 and Bremen in 2020, the sculptures were set up in Soltau, Neuenkirchen and Schwalingen in 2023. These temporary installations were filmed by Sebastian Funk and re-edited in 2025, set to music by composer Anders Wasserfall.
